CO2 reduction plan

Copco has entered into a Climate Partnership with Port of Esbjerg, committing to support the shared ambition of becoming CO2-neutral by 2030. As part of this collaboration, we have also signed the Carbon Pledge agreement, which sets a framework for measuring, documenting, and reducing CO2 emissions.

These partnerships mark an important step in our efforts to take responsibility for reducing our climate impact and to contribute to the collective transition towards a more sustainable industry.

Driving sustainability through action

At COPCO, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and integrating sustainable practices into our operations. Our initiatives include efficient material recycling, a pallet exchange system, and the adoption of electric vehicles and pumps. We utilise geothermal energy to power our facilities and led the way in implementing shore power in Esbjerg, significantly reducing emissions from docked vessels. Additionally, by optimising logistics and shipping chemicals by sea rather than road, we minimise transportation-related CO₂ emissions.

Sustainability is an ongoing priority, and we continuously explore new opportunities to drive positive change for our customers, industry, and the environment.

Balancing performance and sustainability

Biogradable lubricants

As the world's needs for mobility, construction and industrial production increase, so will the demand for lubricants. There is a need to balance this increased demands with the environmental impact of lubricants.

Shell PANOLIN biogradable lubricant are design to provide equipment protection and offer a choice for customers eager to take tangible steps towards sustainability.

COPCO is proud to offer a biodegradable lubricant, ensuring high performance while minimising environmental impact.

Advancing sustainability

Cutting emissions and fuel costs

The introduction of shore power in Esbjerg represents an important milestone in the transition towards more sustainable port operations. By enabling vessels to switch off their auxiliary engines while docked and instead draw electricity from the grid, shore power significantly reduces emissions, noise pollution, and fuel consumption. This initiative aligns with broader industry efforts to lower carbon footprints and improve environmental performance in maritime transport.

One of the key developments in this transition was the successful connection of Island Patriot, owned by Stimwell, as the first large vessel to utilise shore power in Esbjerg in february 2021. As Stimwell’s agent, COPCO facilitated the dialogue between the company and Port Esbjerg, ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and operational requirements were in place. Stimwell’s commitment to sustainability was the driver of this initiative, and the collaboration with Port Esbjerg helped set the stage for wider adoption of shore power solutions.
